Although India's record was not good in Sydney against Australia, as before also the first two matches of ODI Series was played in Sydney Cricket Ground and India got defeated in both the matches with a great margin. Toss : India won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Australia bat in the first innings. Matthew Wade and D'Arcy Short opened for Australia. As Matthew Wade was the captain of Australia in this match he was in a unique mood, he smashed half-century in the powerplay and scored 58 runs in just 32 balls. After Wade was dismissed he set the gear for the team and the upcoming batsmen played comfortably and made Australia score a total of 194 runs. Australia was quite unhappy as in some phase of the innings it looked like Australia will easily cross the score of 220 runs. However Australia was 20-30 runs short this total was good to defend the innings and won the match.
When India came to bat in the first 2-3 overs they were slow but afterwards they started playing in a fast manner. Shikhar Dhawan gave a good start for India and scored a half-century. Virat was also tremendous against Australia as he also was striking balls with an and amazing speed. When Shikhar, Virat and Samson were out India was in pressure but Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer easily managed to finish the total and India won the match by 6 wickets.
